Driver travelling on wrong lane in Banani beat up by mob, his car vandalised

A man crashed his car against another vehicle while driving on the wrong lane in Banani-11 in the capital while he was being chased by an agitated crowd this evening (6 March).
Sohail RK Hussain, managing director of Bank Asia MD, said his car was hit and damaged in the incident before the mob got there with the incident escalating around 6pm.
"A car was rushing towards us from the wrong side. The driver was chased down by some agitated people who also vandalised the car. My car was also damaged [in the incident].
"Later, I called the national emergency number 999 and Banani police intervened."
Efforts were made to contact the Banani Police Station and Gulshan Division Traffic police for comment on the matter but they did not respond.
Sohail further said, "I tried to stop the crowd from vandalising and beating up the driver of the other car but they didn't pay heed."
"I will file a case against the man [driver] if he can be identified," he added.
Meanwhile, some among the crowd said the reckless driver had actually stolen the vehicle he was driving.
