Ctg woman succumbs to stab wounds day after son killed over family feud

A woman in Chattogram has succumbed to the stab wounds she received during an attack allegedly by her elder son on 3 April centring on a family dispute.
The deceased is Zulekha Khatun, 55, from Fakirabon village in Bhujpur union of Fatikchhari upazila.
She passed away at a private hospital in Chattogram around 12pm today (6 April), three days after her younger son Masum's death, who was also injured in the same incident.
Masum died on 5 April.
Confirming the matter, Bhujpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mahbubul Haque said, "We've been informed that the mother has died following the death of her younger son. The matter is being taken very seriously."
According to locals, the incident occurred when a dispute erupted between the two brothers over moving a sack of dry leaves. At one stage, the elder one, Md Yasin, allegedly attacked his younger brother and mother with a sharp machete.
The suspect, Yasin, has been absconding since then.
"Police operations are ongoing to apprehend him. However, no official case has been filed at the station as of now," said OC Mahbubul.
