Two people were made accused in a case filed by the Chattogram Customs House for stealing illegal goods from an extermination spot that were seized and destroyed by the customs authorities one and half months ago.

The accused – Abdul Mannan, a resident of Patia upazila and Nurul Kabir, a resident of Nimtoli of the port city – were found involved in stealing 10 trucks of the banned poultry feed 'Meat and Bone Meal', which were destroyed at the Anandabazar embankment area of Halishohor between 7 and 24 September.

In the case statement, it was mentioned that 420 containers of the banned and expired goods were destroyed by entombing them from 7 to 24 September. After one and half months of the destruction, on 8 November night, some miscreants dug out that land, took the things out and tried to transport them.

The customs authorities have seized six excavators, 14 dumping trucks and one pay loader from the spot. The tenant of that place – Mannan and Nurul Kabir, who were doing the excavation work – fled the scene sensing the presence of customs people.

Meanwhile, when the customs officials and the auction company KM Corporation were conducting the annihilation work of the seized goods, they did not allow the media people to enter the spot.

However, Chattogram Customs House Revenue Officer Mehedi Hasan said that Abdul Mannan is the owner of the dumping ground as a tenant which he rented to KM Corporation for the destruction of the goods. He denied involvement of any employee of KM Corporation or Chattogram Customs House with the theft.

According to the Bandar police station, security guards were deployed at the spot after conducting destruction activities until 6 November. Then a syndicate tried to steal the goods from there.
