The chargesheet was submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin against four people this afternoon, said Ayub Ali, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station

Police today (13 April) submitted the chargesheet in the Magura child rape case before the court, one month after the incident.
The chargesheet was submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin against four people this afternoon, said Ayub Ali, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
The prime accused of the case Hitu Sheikh gave a confessional statement before the court under section 164, according to court papers.
In addition, Asiya's brother-in-law, Sajib Sheikh, and his brother Ratul Sheikh have been charged with threatening to kill them, and her sister's mother-in-law, Zaheda Begum, has been charged with concealing information.
In this regard, Magura Additional Superintendent of Police Mirajul Islam said that as soon as the case was filed in the child rape and murder case of Magura, a monitoring team was formed with some members of the police under the leadership of the District Superintendent of Police. They have been helping the investigating officer of this case.
The case had drawn national attention after the tragic death of eight-year-old Asiya. On 6 March at dawn, Asiya, who had come to visit her sister's house, became severely ill after being raped allegedly by her brother-in-law's father, Hitu Sheikh.
Despite receiving treatment in various hospitals, she ultimately passed away at the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Thursday, 13 March.
In response, enraged protesters burned down the houses of the accused.
Students and activists continue to blockade the Dhaka-Khulna highway daily in protest, demanding justice for Asiya.
