A businessman was hacked to death in the Chhararkul area under Barabkunda Union of Sitakunda Upazila in Chattogram this evening (26 March).

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Nasir, also known as 'Don Nasir', a 35-year-old resident of Chhararkul. He was involved in dairy farming and land business. 

According to locals, Nasir was active in the politics of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Mojibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda Police Station, confirmed the death and said that a police team was sent to the scene after receiving information from locals.

Witnesses said unidentified individuals attacked and killed Nasir near the Shanta Dighi area around 6:30pm while he was riding his motorcycle.

Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mojibur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that a police team was sent to the scene upon receiving reports from locals.

"We are investigating the incident and working to determine the motive behind the murder," he added.
