A man has been arrested in connection with a mugging incident in Chattogram's Sholashahar area after a video of the crime went viral on social media yesterday (22 March).

Police identified the suspects and apprehended one of them, Mohammad Shakil Ahmed Shaju, 42, from the Hamzarbag area under Panchlaish Police Station in the early hours of today (23 March).

Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Solaiman, confirmed the arrest, stating, "An elderly man filed a complaint that two muggers snatched Tk500 from him at Sholashahar Gate 2 around 1:30pm on Saturday.

"Following the complaint, we launched an investigation and identified the suspects. Later, during a raid in Hamzarbag, we arrested one of them."

He added, "The arrestee has confessed to his crime. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other suspect, who remains at large."
