BNP leader killed in factional clash in Rajshahi
ASP Sabina Yeasmin said, “An operation to arrest the accused is ongoing. The body will be taken to the morgue for an autopsy.”
A local BNP leader was killed in a clash between two groups of the party in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi last night (27 February).
The deceased has been identified as Md Ershad Ali, a leader of BNP's Yusufpur union unit. Additional Superintendent of Rajshahi Police Sabina Yeasmin confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Locals said the supporters of Rajshahi-6 constituency MP and the district BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand clashed with the followers of Anwar Hossain Ujjal, former convener of the district Jubo Dal unit, centring a function in Sipaipara area around 10pm, over who would be the programme's chief guest, leaving Chand's supporter Ershad seriously injured.
Later, he died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

"Case filing process is underway," she added.
