Bengal Group Chairman Morshed Alam arrested
In a statement, the DMP's media wing said he was arrested from the Gulshan-2 area of the capital tonight (8 April).

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Bengal Group Chairman Morshed Alam.
DMP's Detective Branch Chief Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter to The Business Standard tonight (8 April).
"He is accused in several cases. however, the case in which he will be shown arrested is yet to be decided," said Karim.
In a statement, the DMP's media wing said he was arrested from Gulshan-2 area of the capital tonight (8 April).
Morshed Alam is a former two-time lawmaker for the Noakhali-2 (Senbagh-Sonaimuri) constituency. He won the seat in the 10th and 11th National elections during the ousted Awami League-led government.
He was declared CIP for the fiscal years of 1996-1997, 1999- 2000, 2008-2009 & 2010-2011 (export) by the Ministry of Commerce. He is also the chairman of private satellite television RTV.
