AL man arrested in Ctg for ‘threatening to kill CA, CJ, army chief’ in Facebook video

Chattogram police have arrested a man, who is reportedly an activist of the Awami League, for allegedly issuing death threats against the chief adviser, chief justice, and army chief in a viral video posted on Facebook.
Md Alamgir, 50, was detained early Saturday around 2:30am from the Zafatnagar area of Fatikchhari upazila in Chattogram, according to Fatikchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Ahmed.
In the video posted yesterday, Alamgir was seen brandishing a knife while hurling vulgar insults and threatening to kill the three top state officials.
The video sparked outrage and prompted swift action from law enforcement.
OC Nur Ahmed confirmed the arrest, stating, "After the video went viral, police apprehended him along with the knife.
"He was later shown arrested in an explosives-related case filed at the Fatikchhari Police Station and sent to court."
The OC also said Alamgir was arrested last month in another case and sent to court. The court granted him bail in that case.
"After returning from jail, he remained calm for a few days. Suddenly, he posted a video yesterday threatening top state figures," the OC added.
