Police in a drive today (6 April) arrested an Awami League leader from Dhaka's Fakirapool area in connection with the attack on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's motorcade in 2015 in Karwan Bazar.

The arrestee was identified as Sabbir Hossain, general secretary of Motijheel unit Awami League

Based on an intelligence report, a team of police conducted a drive in the early hours of Sunday and arrested Sabbir, said Mezbah Uddin, officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station.

A court issued an arrest warrant against Sabbir in connection with the case filed with Tejgaon Police Station on August 22, last year, said OC.

In April 2015, Khaleda Zia's motorcade came under attack during electioneering in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar.
