Accused in Sinha murder case disclose vital information during remand
However, the RAB director did not disclose the information for the sake of investigation
The accused in Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder case have given vital information during the remand.
The information given by the accused would be cross-checked, said Lt Col Ashiq Billah, director (legal and media wing) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), at a press briefing at around 9:30 pm on August 19 in RAB-15 headquarters.
However, the RAB director did not disclose the information for the sake of investigation.

"All the necessary statements, including the statements of the accused, evidences of the incident, necessary data and eyewitness testimony are being taken in order to make the investigation of the case objective. In fact, we have already done most of the things. The court on August 19 directed to hand over 29 materials, including hard disk, seized by the police to us on the request of the investigating officer. We hope to get the things tomorrow," said Lt Col Ashiq Billah.
On the other hand, two of nine accused in the case filed by Sinha's sister were not arrested.
The investigating officer had applied to the police super office to identify them, said the director of RAB's legal and media wing.
Regarding the missing CCTV footage of Teknaf Police Station, Lt Col Ashiq Billah said, "We have applied to the court to get the CCTV footage. I hope we will get that too."
In response to a question about the seizure of the bank accounts of several people, including the police superintendent, he said, "We will take information about the bank accounts of those whose information will be needed in the investigation of the case."
Earlier on August 12, a Cox's Bazar court placed seven arrestees, including four policemen, on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder.
On August 18, RAB took three prime accused -- suspended officer- in-charges (OC) of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchara Investigation Centre's Inspector Liakat Ali and Sub-Inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit – on a seven-day remand.
On August 5, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case with the Teknaf Upazila Judicial Magistrate Court accusing nine people, including the three prime accused, over the killing of her brother.
Sinha was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive on the night of July 31.
