8, including journo, injured as BNP factions clash in N'ganj over jhut business
Shots were fired, and three motorcycles burned during the clash

At least eight people, including a journalist, were injured as two factions of the BNP clashed over control of jhut — ready-made garment (RMG) waste — business of a factory in Narayanganj.
At least three motorcycles were burned, and shots were fired during the incident at the Adamjee Export Processing Zones in the Siddhirganj area this afternoon (6 March).
The situation was later brought under control by the police and army, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahinur Alam told The Business Standard.
"A lot of brickbats were being thrown at the spot. The situation was difficult to tackle initially. It was later brought under control with the help of our forces and the army. Legal action will be taken in this incident," he said.
According to locals, a dispute broke out between former Narayanganj Metropolitan Chhatra Dal president Rakibur Rahman Sagar and associates of a local BNP leader named Ruhul Amin over the jhut business of Universal Menswear Ltd in the Adamjee EPZ.
At one point, a clash broke out between the two sides, leaving eight, including a local media worker named Tofazzal Hossain, injured.
However, speaking to TBS on the matter, Sagar said he and his men were attacked by an Awami League leader's men.
"Due to a past enmity over business, Awami League leader's men attacked my followers at around 4 pm today. Former Chhatra Dal leaders Mohan and Manik, along with 4-5 others, were hacked and injured in the attack. They burned motorcycles and opened fire," he said.
TBS could not reach BNP leader Ruhul Amin immediately for his comment on the matter.
