35 Rohingyas, including women and children, detained in Ctg's Patenga

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 35 Rohingyas, including women and children, from the Khejurtala Beribandh area of Patenga in Chattogram on Saturday (3 May) morning.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard and said they received information about a group of Rohingya attempting to enter the city via Patenga Ghat by boat from Myanmar.
"A subsequent raid led to the apprehension of 35 individuals, comprising men, women, and children. The detainees have been handed over to Patenga Police Station for further proceedings," he added.
Hossain said, "We have yet to confirm the exact origin of the group as we're uncertain whether they came from Bhasan Char or directly from Myanmar with the intent to enter the city. Police are continuing investigations to clarify these details."
However, some of the detained Rohingya claimed they paid brokers Tk2,000 per person to facilitate their entry into Chattogram from Myanmar.
