30 rounds of police ammunition stolen from temple in Badda; OC withdrawn, 7 cops suspended

At least 30 rounds of ammunition which belongs to Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Badda Police Station, was stolen from the Sri Sri Mahadev Ashram and Kali Temple in Nimtali of Badda area in the capital.

Following the theft, Badda Police Station's officer-in-charge Md Saiful Islam was withdrawn and attached to the DMP headquarters, several high officials at DMP confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Also, a sub-inspector, an assistant sub-inspector and five constables at the police station were suspended for negligence of duty, DMP sources said.
According to sources at the Gulshan division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, a room was arranged on the second floor of an under-construction building within the temple premises for on duty policemen at the Sri Sri Mahadev Ashram and Kali Temple.
Today, between 4:30am and 5:30am, four policemen and three Ansar members reportedly had their four bags, two wallets and three mobile phones stolen from the room while they were asleep. One of the bags contained around 30 rounds of shotgun bullets.
Later, at 9:45am, police recovered the bags from a wasteland adjacent to the temple concourse.
