Two government committees have found the involvement of 50 officials, including the project director, in irregularities in the housing project of the power plant.

Last week, the High Court bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Shohrowardi ordered the investigation following a writ petition seeking judicial investigation into the reports of the alleged irregularities in the project.

According to the probe reports, a Tk113.63-crore deal was signed with three companies for the supply of furniture and electrical appliances for four buildings of the housing project. But the actual price of those items was Tk77.23 crore.

Each pillow was shown to have cost Tk5,957 and Tk760 was shown as the carrying cost for each pillow.

An electric stove was shown to have been bought for Tk7,747 with an additional carrying charge of Tk6,650.
