15 students expelled in Cumilla's Nangalkot upazila; youth jailed for supplying cheat sheets

A mobile court sentenced a youth to six months in jail for supplying cheat sheets to SSC examinees sitting for the English Second Paper.
Executive Magistrate Rafid Khan ordered the verdict for Imran Hossain, 19, today (17 April).
Besides, 15 candidates were expelled from four schools and madrasahs in the upazila for resorting to unfair means during the exam.
During the exam, Executive Magistrate Rafid visited the Dr Zobaida Hannan High School and College exam centre.
Tag officer of the Shahidul Islam Hall of the centre spotted accused Imran attempting to hand over cheat sheets to a relative of his.
With the help of police, Imran was immediately detained from the third floor of the centre.
While transporting Imran to the upazila office, a group of local residents blocked the road and pleaded for his release. However, the authorities proceeded, and the executive magistrate later sentenced him to six months of imprisonment.
According to the upazila education office, the 15 expelled students include four from Nangalkot Afsarul Ulum Kamil Madrasah, two from Datishar Ahmed Delowara Memorial Girls High School And College, five from Jodda Bazar Siddikia Alim Madrasah and four from Jodda Bazar Public High School.
Rafid Khan, also the upazila assistant commissioner, said, "The tag officer detained the individual who was trying to provide cheating material.
"Later, when I was taking him to the office, some locals created a commotion and blocked the road. Despite that, we brought him in and handed down the jail sentence."
