Two placed on remand over Banani shisha bar killing

A Dhaka court has granted different terms of remand for two accused in a case filed over the killing of a man, Rahat Hossain Rabbi, who was stabbed to death at a shisha bar in the capital's Banani.
The accused are Maksudur Rahman Hamza (22) and Abdul Malek Munna (22).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jenifar Jerin granted a one-day remand for Hamza, and a three-day remand for Munna this afternoon (16 August) after police produced them in court with 10-day remand plea for each.
The killing took place around 4:30am on Thursday (14 August) at the '360 Degree' shisha bar in Banani.
According to CCTV footage and police, Rabbi was stabbed on the stairs of the building.
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Russell Sarwar said Rabbi was stabbed during an altercation with a group of young men.
Rabbi, 31, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has been kept at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
In connection with the murder, Rabbi's father, Robiul Awal, filed a case with Banani Police Station yesterday (15 August).
Law enforcers later arrested the four suspects from Banani area.
