Two magistrate courts shifted from Chattogram city to Satkania
Officials said the relocation is intended to facilitate access to judicial services for residents of Satkania and surrounding areas, reducing the need for litigants, lawyers and witnesses to travel to the district headquarters.
Two senior judicial magistrate courts have been relocated from the Chattogram district headquarters to Satkania upazila headquarters following the issuance of an official gazette.
According to the gazette published on Wednesday (7 January), issued as SRO No 06-Law/2026, the government exercised its powers under Section 2, sub-section (2A) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Act No V of 1898) to transfer the Satkania and Lohagara Senior Judicial Magistrate Courts from the Chattogram district headquarters to Satkania Sadar.
The notification was issued under the authority of the president and signed by Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, senior assistant secretary of Judicial Branch-4 of the Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
It said the decision would take effect immediately.

They added that the move is expected to support case handling and administrative processes at the local level, particularly for cases originating from Satkania and Lohagara upazilas.
