Travel ban imposed on ex-minister Abdul Latif, two wives

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former fisheries and livestock minister Abdul Latif Biswas, along with his two wives Mosammat Momtaz Begum and Begum Ashanur Biswas, amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of illegally amassing wealth.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order today (14 July) in response to two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), according to court sources.
ACC Deputy Director Md Saiduzzaman, submitted the petitions seeking a travel restriction, stating that Abdul Latif is under investigation for acquiring illegal assets. The petition further mentioned that both movable and immovable properties linked to him and his family members are suspected to exist across various parts of the country as well as abroad.
Citing intelligence and confidential sources, the ACC expressed concern that Abdul Latif and his family members might attempt to flee the country to evade the investigation. It also warned that they might be trying to transfer their assets.
