Tahsin murder: ‘Chhoto Sajjad’ remanded again for 5 days
Earlier, on 16 March, another court had granted police a seven-day remand for Sajjad in the same case

A Chattogram court has granted a fresh five-day remand for listed top criminal Sajjad Hossain, alias "Chhoto Sajjad", in connection with the murder of a youth named Tahsin.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Md Alauddin issued the order today (6 April) after police presented him in court and sought 10 days for further interrogation.
Earlier, on 16 March, another court had granted police a seven-day remand for Sajjad in the same case.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Md Mofiz Uddin said police submitted the new remand petition as part of the ongoing investigation into Tahsin's murder, which took place on 21 October 2024. "The court granted five-day remand after hearing," he added.
According to court officials, Tahsin was shot dead by a group of assailants, who had arrived in a black car, while having tea at a roadside shop in the Odurpara area of Chandgaon.
Tahsin's father later filed the murder case at Chandgaon Police Station, naming Chhoto Sajjad as the prime accused.
Sajjad, a known figure on the police's list of most wanted criminals in the port city, is accused of being involved in numerous crimes, including open display of firearms for extortion and threats to the city's residents and business owners.
He had been in hiding for several months but resurfaced on 28 January during a Facebook Live session, in which he threatened to assault the officer-in-charge (OC) of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, Arifur Rahman. The incident prompted the CMP to announce a reward for information leading to Sajjad's arrest on 30 January.
Additionally, police have linked Sajjad to another violent case — a double murder following the shooting of a car on Bakalia Access Road in the Chandanpura area. He has been arrested in that case as well.
Sajjad was apprehended in Dhaka on 15 March and has since remained in police custody as investigations continue into multiple charges against him.
CMP officials say the fresh remand is crucial for uncovering further details about the criminal network Sajjad is allegedly associated with and for securing justice for the victims.
