A case has been filed against Lalmonirhat's suspended assistant commissioner Tapashee Tabassum Urmi on charges of sedition for making hateful remarks against the interim government and the Anti-discrimination Student Movement martyr Abu Sayeed.

The plaintiff, Showkat Hossain Babul, filed the case at the court of Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate-2 on Wednesday (9 October).

Babul also brought defamation charges against Urmi for her comments against Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, seeking Tk1,000 crore in damage, said his lawyer SM Masudur Rahman.

Judge of the court, Md Al Amin, accepted the case and ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate.

The CID has been asked to submit the report within 15 December.

As per the case dossier, accused Tapashee Tabassum Urmi, through her Facebook post, started a conspiracy for the ouster of the interim government and against Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.

In addition, she also harmed the reputation of the chief adviser by spreading her derogatory remarks against him on Facebook.

Earlier, Tapashee was suspended after being made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for her controversial Facebook post.
