'Stop worrying about my safety, think about your own first': Subrata Bain tells police in court
The court rejected Subrata’s discharge plea and ordered the trial to proceed, fixing 16 November for recording testimonies

Top-listed criminal Subrata Bain alias Md Fateh Ali today (15 October) mocked police officers tasked with his security, ridiculing them as they tried to put a bulletproof vest, helmet, and handcuffs on him before his court appearance.
"You can't even ensure your own safety, and you've come to ensure mine! Stop worrying about my safety. Think about your own first," the 61-year-old told officers escorting him from the prison van to the court lockup at the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court.
Police officials said Subrata became aggressive and verbally abusive, resisting security procedures before his hearing in an arms case filed with the Hatirjheel Police Station.
Despite a heavy security cordon, Subrata kept mocking the officers. At one point, he asked lockup in-charge Ripun Molla, "When did you start working here? I've been coming to this court for years."
Ripun Molla told The Business Standard, "The accused made plenty of comments when we tried to handcuff him. We've informed higher authorities of the matter."
Subrata and his associate Arafat Ibn Nasir were later produced before the court of Judge Fahmida Jahangir of the 15th Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal for the hearing on the charges framed in the case.
Two other accused, Abu Russell Masud alias Molla Masud and MAS Sharif, appeared virtually.
During the hearing, Subrata's lawyers sought discharge, while the prosecution argued for framing charges.
The court rejected Subrata's discharge plea and ordered the trial to proceed, fixing 16 November for recording testimonies.
Subrata, however, maintained his plea of innocence and sought justice from the court.
Earlier on 13 July, the investigating officer DB Inspector Aminul Islam submitted the charge sheet in the case.
