The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the Division's Chamber Court's stay order on the bail granted by the High Court to Choice Rahman in a case over collection and possession of about 302 kg of heroin and five kg of cocaine.

An appellate bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Thursday.

On January 12, 2019, the Criminal Investigation Department of police (CID) filed a case against Rahman with Uttara-West Police Station over collection and possession of 302.359 kg of heroin and 5.296 kg of cocaine.

The High Court granted bail to Choice Rahman on 23 September last year.

The state appealed against the High Court's order to the Appellate Division. Following the hearing on 27 September, the Appellate Division Chamber Court stayed the High Court's bail order for eight weeks.

The petition then came before the appellate bench headed by the chief justice.
