Actress Apu Biswas surrenders to court, gets bail in attempted murder case
The court granted her bail application with a bond of Tk10,000
Actress Apu Biswas has secured bail after surrendering in court in a case filed over an attempted murder charge involving an incident that took place during the July Uprising last year.
Apu, accompanied by her lawyer, surrendered in the court of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman and applied for bail today (13 July).
After the hearing, the court granted her bail application with a bond of Tk10,000, said Apu's lawyer Abul Bashar Kamrul.

"On 2 June, Apu Biswas received a 6-week bail from the High Court. As that bail period expired, she voluntarily surrendered and sought bail. The court granted her bail application after the hearing," the lawyer said.
Apu Biswas appeared in the courtroom of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at 12:40pm. She then sat on the back row bench of the courtroom.
Earlier on 10 July, Apu Biswas appeared in court in person and submitted her bail application.
Another Actress, Nusraat Faria, was arrested on 18 May in the same case. She was sent to jail the next day. Nusraat Faria received bail after two days.
According to the case document, shots were fired at the protesters who took position in front of Vatara Police Station on 19 July last year.
At that time, the plaintiff Enamul Haque was shot in the leg. He received treatment at a hospital.
Later, Enamul filed the case in the Dhaka CMM Court against 283 named individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and 300-400 unnamed persons.
In this case, Apu Biswas is the 208th named accused.
The case names 17 actors and actresses as accused, including Apu Biswas, Asna Habib Bhabna, Nusraat Faria, and actor Zayed Khan.
The case mentions them as financiers of the Awami League for taking a position against the July Uprising.
