Probes into July Uprising crimes may finish within a year: ICT chief prosecutor
The ICT is prioritising investigations into the July Uprising killings as it works to bring those responsible to justice, says the chief prosecutor.
Investigations into crimes against humanity committed during the 2024 July Uprising are expected to be completed within the next year, International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam said today (23 July).
"We are treating the cases involving those who were killed or injured during the 2024 July Uprising with the highest priority," he told reporters at his office.
He said the tribunal was making every effort to complete the investigations within the stipulated timeframe.

"I hope we will be able to finish investigating all crimes against humanity cases related to the July Uprising within the next year. At the same time, those accused will be brought to trial," he added.
Earlier in the day, a delegation from an 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami submitted a memorandum to the chief prosecutor, demanding the speedy trial of the cases related to the killings during the July Uprising and placing seven demands.
After receiving the memorandum, Aminul briefed the delegation on the progress of the investigations into crimes against humanity cases.
He also assured the delegation that all crimes committed during the July Uprising would be brought to justice.
