Record number of law officials appointed to strengthen judiciary: Govt
This is the highest number of such appointments in the country's history

The interim government has said that a record number of law officers have been appointed in the past year to restore judicial functions and public trust in the legal system.
In a post shared on the Chief Adviser GOB page on Facebook yesterday (31 August), the CA Press Wing said a total of 4,889 government law officers have been appointed across the country's courts and tribunals, as well as 274 attorneys at the Attorney General's Office.
This is the highest number of such appointments in the country's history.
Additionally, new judges and prosecutors have been appointed to the International Crimes Tribunal, and five new justices, including the chief justice, have been appointed to the Appellate Division and 23 to the High Court Division, read the post.
It said these appointments were urgently needed because many law officers appointed during the previous "fascist regime" had fled after the July Uprising, hindering judicial proceedings and increasing the suffering of those seeking justice. The shortage of prosecutors and judges made it difficult to resolve important cases.
The statement emphasised the importance of these appointments, stating that they will speed up case disposals, reduce case backlogs, and make it easier for people to receive justice.
It concluded by saying that the move will restore public confidence in the judicial system and help establish an effective and active legal environment.
