Rangdhanu Group chairman, sons barred from leaving country
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order

A Dhaka court issued an order barring Rangdhanu Group Chairman Rafiqul Islam, along with his son Kawsar Ahmed Apu and Mehedi Hasan Dipu, from leaving Bangladesh.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order today (11 August) following an application filed by the ACC.
The trio is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over the alleged embezzlement of Tk1,000 crore.
ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter this afternoon.
According to the ACC plea, the investigation concerns the embezzlement of Tk1,000 crore from the Andarkilla branch of Islami Bank in Chattogram. The funds were allegedly siphoned off in favour of Silver Food Industries through forged documents and fake mortgages linked to properties in Narayanganj.
The case also involves allegations of money laundering abroad and acquisition of assets beyond known income by Rafiqul Islam and his family members.
According to sources, Rafiqul Islam and the others may attempt to flee the country, prompting the court to impose the travel ban to ensure a fair investigation.
