Police granted permission to interrogate Chinmoy Das at prison gate in vandalism case
According to Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, although Chinmoy was not originally named in the case, police investigations revealed his involvement

A Chattogram court has granted police permission to interrogate Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, former Iskcon leader and spokesperson of the Sammilito Sanatoni Jagoron Jote, in connection with a case involving attacks on police, vandalism at a mosque, and creating public unrest within the court premises.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin issued the order following a police petition this morning (16 June).
According to Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, although Chinmoy was not originally named in the case, police investigations revealed his involvement.
Based on these findings, law enforcement sought the court's permission to formally show him as arrested in the case, which the court granted.
Following this, on 4 June, the investigating officer Assistant Commissioner of the Chattogram Detective Branch, Mostafa Kamal, applied to interrogate Chinmoy at the prison gate.
After a hearing today, the court allowed a one-day prison gate interrogation.
Previously, the court had granted permission to interrogate Chinmoy in connection with four other cases, including one involving sedition and the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.
Chinmoy was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on the night of 25 November last year from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, in connection with a sedition case filed at the Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram.
The following day, he was produced before the Chattogram court, which ordered to send him to prison.
Following the court's order, Chinmoy's supporters created chaos in the Chattogram court premises, detaining the prison van carrying him for nearly three hours.
Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces used batons and sound grenades to disperse the mob, which sparked violent clashes. The unrest eventually spread from Laldighi Par to the Kotwali area of Chattogram city.
During the clashes, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was brutally hacked to death in front of Rangam Conversation Hall.
In total, five cases were filed with Kotwali Police Station, including charges of murder, assaulting law enforcement officers, obstructing government work, vandalising vehicles, attacking lawyers and litigants, and detonating explosives. Chinmoy has since been shown arrested in these cases, including the murder of the lawyer.
