Metropolitan Magistrate Sadekur Rahman recorded the statement and later ordered authorities to send him to jail
Nazrul Islam, arrested after police recovered his wife's body from a deep freezer in their Kalabagan flat, has confessed to the killing in court today (15 October).
Police produced him before a Dhaka court this afternoon.
Sub‑Inspector Md Atikur Rahman, the investigating officer from Kalabagan Police Station, sought to record his statement after Nazrul agreed to make a voluntary confession.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sadekur Rahman recorded the statement and later ordered authorities to send him to jail.
Nazrul was arrested last night around 9:10pm during a raid in Nawabpur Road under Bangshal Police Station.
Case documents state that Nazrul married Taslima Akhter in 2004. The couple had three daughters, but their marriage had been marred by years of conflict.
Relatives said Nazrul frequently assaulted Taslima over dowry demands, and the disputes had intensified in recent years.

Officers said the body bore multiple injury marks. Her brother, Nayeem Hossain, later filed a murder case.
Nazrul Islam is the son of Aminul Islam of North Adabor in Dhaka. Victim Taslima was the daughter of Md Siraj Mia of Bindan village in Gazipur's Pubail area.
Legal proceedings against Nazrul are now underway.
