ICT extends probe deadline again in July Uprising case against ex-mayor Atiqul, 20 others
A total of 21 individuals have been accused in the case related to the alleged mass killing in Uttara.

The International Crimes Tribunal has granted investigators one more month, the second extension, to complete the probe against former Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam and 20 others accused of crimes against humanity over the July–August killings in Uttara during the student-public movement.
The Tribunal has also instructed that the investigation report be submitted by 23 November.
Today (22 October), the three-member Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order as the date for submitting the investigation report was scheduled for the day.
During the hearing, Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman informed the Tribunal of the progress in the case and sought an extension of one month to complete the investigation.
The Tribunal granted the request and fixed a new date for submission.
At the same hearing, the lawyer for Bashir Uddin, one of the arrested accused, requested that his client be hospitalised due to a broken hand.
In response, the Tribunal stated, "He must go to the hospital, receive treatment, and return. But no hospitalisation."
A total of 21 individuals have been accused in the case related to the alleged mass killing in Uttara.
Among them, 12, including former mayor Atiqul Islam, have been arrested and are currently in jail.
Besides Atiqul, the arrested include Md Shahinur Mia, education affairs secretary of Uttara East Thana Awami League; Md Bashir Uddin, president of Uttara Sector 6 Awami League; Delowar Hossain, president of Ward 1 Jubo League, Dhaka
Metropolitan North; Monowar Islam Chowdhury, president of Uttara West Thana Awami League; Abdullah Al Mamun, organising secretary of Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League; and Awami League leaders Md Sohel Rana and Md Shah Alam.
The police produced the arrested accused before the Tribunal this morning.
The investigation report was initially scheduled to be submitted on 23 September.
As it was not filed, the Tribunal extended the deadline to 22 October. When the prosecution again failed to submit the report, it applied for further time today, which was granted.
According to the case documents, Awami League leaders, including former mayor Atiqul Islam, were allegedly involved in the killing of students and civilians in Uttara during the July–August movement. The accused are now in custody pending further investigation.
