Probe report deadline in July-uprising cases against 45 including ex-ministers now 8 Jan
Earlier on 20 July, the prosecution sought an additional three months to complete the investigation, which the tribunal had granted
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has ordered the submission of the final investigation report by 8 January 2026 in seven separate cases of crimes against humanity filed over killings during the July–August movement.
A total of 45 accused, including former law minister Anisul Huq, former education minister Dipu Moni, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former ministers Amir Hossain Amu, Kamrul Islam, Abdur Razzaq, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's advisers Salman F Rahman and Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, are under investigation.
The order came today (15 October) when 16 former ministers and officials were brought to the tribunal from Keraniganj, Kashimpur, and Narayanganj prisons under tight security. They were produced before the bench in phases throughout the morning.
Other accused include Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) President Hasanul Haq Inu, former justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, former home secretary Jahangir Alam, former MPs Sulaiman Selim and Shajahan Khan, and former state minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder.
Earlier on 20 July, the prosecution sought an additional three months to complete the investigation, which the tribunal granted. As the report was not submitted within that time, the court has now extended the deadline to 8 January next year.
Strict security measures were in place outside the tribunal, with law enforcement personnel conducting thorough checks on all visitors.
Previously, on 20 April, 19 former ministers and state ministers were presented before the tribunal, and on 18 February, 12 ministers and advisers were also produced in connection with the same set of cases.
