The court expressed dissatisfaction over how media got the progress report before it was presented before the court.

Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder stood for the state in the court. In the morning, he submitted the latest report on the investigation. He then questioned whether the court had jurisdiction to hear the case. Then the court ordered to cancel the hearing.

The court said, "As per court's order on November 14, the affidavit was filed. At the beginning of the hearing, the deputy attorney general raised questions about the jurisdiction of the court. We are aware of our jurisdiction. Since the rule is in place, the jurisdiction cannot hinder hearing and ordering on this case. The state raised the question, so the case was dropped from the cause list."

On February 2, RAB submitted its progress report to the court.

On November 14 last year, the High Court ordered to the progress report on the investigation into the murder of journalist Sagar-Runi by March 4.

On February 11, 2012, Sagar Sarwar, the then news editor of Maasranga Television and Meherun Runi, the then senior reporter of ATN Bangla were brutally murdered in their apartment in South Rajabazar.

Eight people, including Runi's friend Tanvir Rahman are accused in the murder case.
