Hearing on 16th amendment verdict review on 10 August
The hearing is going to be held five years after the review petition was filed
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has fixed 10 August for hearing the review petition filed challenging its previous verdict that upheld the cancellation of the 16th Constitutional amendment brought to restore parliament's power to remove judges.
The Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique set the date on Thursday (13 July), Attorney General AM Amin told The Business Standard.
The hearing is going to be held five years after the review petition was filed.

On 17 September 2014, the 16th Amendment to the Constitution was passed, removing the provision of the Supreme Judicial Council and restoring the parliament's power to remove the judges.
Nine SC lawyers filed a writ petition with the High Court on 5 November in 2014, challenging the constitutional amendment.
After the hearing on the writ, the HC declared the amendment illegal based on the view of the majority on 5 May 2016. Later, the government appealed against the HC verdict.
The Appellate Division rejected the appeal and upheld the HC verdict on 3 July 2017.
