Hadi murder: Court defers CID probe report submission to 29 Jan
A Dhaka court has set 29 January for the submission of the supplementary investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order today (25 January) after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report on the scheduled day.
Sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Prosecution Division Mohammad Rukunuzzaman confirmed the matter.
Earlier on 6 January, the investigation officer of the case, Detective Branch of police Inspector Faisal Ahmed, submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused.
Subsequently, on 15 January, the complainant and Inqilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a naraji (petition of objection). On the same day, the court directed the CID to conduct further investigation into the case.
According to the case statement, on 12 December, at around 2:20pm, assailants riding a motorcycle shot Hadi on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Model Police Station and fled the scene. He sustained critical gunshot wounds to the head and below the right ear.
Hadi was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced medical care. He died on 18 December while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case at Paltan Police Station on 14 December, which was later converted into a murder case.
