Gauripur killings during July Uprising: ICT sets 16 Feb for probe report submission
Prosecutor Saimum Reza Talukdar updated the tribunal on the investigation’s progress and sought an additional two weeks, which the tribunal granted, setting 16 February as the deadline.
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) has postponed the submission of probe report in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of three people during the July uprising in Gauripur, Mymensingh, and fixed 16 February for the next hearing.
The two-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Manjurul Bashid, passed the order today (28 January) after prosecutors sought additional time to submit the investigation report.

Earlier in the day, police produced six accused, currently in custody, before the tribunal.
They include Tanjir Ahmed Rajib, son of former Mymensingh-3 (Gauripur) MP Nazim Uddin Ahmed, former Gauripur police station sub-inspector Shafiqul Alam, assistant sub-inspector Delwar Hossain, local Awami League leader Shahabul Alam, Joseph Uddin Judge, and Ataur Rahman Fakir, also known as Faruk Ahmad.
According to the prosecution, police personnel along with leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations attacked people in front of Gauripur police station during the July uprising on 5 August 2024, leaving Biplob Hasan, Md Nure Alam Siddiqui and Md Jubayer dead and many students and members of the public injured.
Following the incident, a case was filed at the ICT-2 accusing the defendants of committing crimes against humanity in connection with the violence.
