Expelled Shibir leader Jisan sent to jail in rape case
The complaint mentioned that the woman was raped multiple times and that her foetus was destroyed.
A Cumilla court today (16 June) ordered to send expelled Islami Chhatra Shibir central assistant international affairs secretary Jisan Ahmed to jail in a case filed over allegations of rape and termination of a foetus.
Judge Tayeb Uddin Ahmed of Cumilla Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-3 passed the order after Jisan was produced before the court this afternoon. Court Police Inspector Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter.
Jisan's lawyer Monir Hossain told journalists that an application had been filed to keep him at the jail hospital considering his physical condition. However, after the hearing, he was sent to jail.
He also alleged that police did not allow the lawyers to speak to Jisan.
Earlier, Jisan's family claimed he was rescued from the Laksam Railway Junction area at around 9:45pm last Friday, a day after he went missing from Cumilla's Daudkandi.
He was later admitted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for treatment.
After news of Jisan's rescue emerged, a woman filed a case with Daudkandi Model Police Station on Friday night under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Four people, including Jisan, were accused in the case.
The complaint mentioned that the woman was raped multiple times and that her foetus was destroyed.
Later, Shibir's central committee relieved Jisan from his post as central assistant secretary for international affairs following his arrest in the case.
