Ex-Ramna ADC Shachin sent to jail in crimes against humanity case

A Dhaka court today (22 August) sent to jail Shachin Moulik, former additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna Traffic Division, in a case filed over crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the 2024 July Mass Uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order after police produced him before the court, said Md Tarek Zubair, deputy commissioner of DMP's Prosecution Division.
Investigation Officer Muhammad Alamgir Sarkar of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) probe body pleaded to show him arrested in the case and keep him behind bars.
The investigation officer in his plea stated that Shachin Moulik committed crimes against humanity by using and ordering the use of lethal weapons on protesters at Farmgate's Babul Tower area, under the foot-over bridge opposite Ananda Cinema Hall, and in Karwan Bazar and adjacent areas on 4 August 2024. The ICT probe body has reportedly found primary evidence against him.
On 21 August this year, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shachin from Mohalchhari in Khagrachhari, where he was serving with the Armed Police Battalion.
