According to the case documents, Shamim, 13, joined a procession by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on 5 August in Dhanmandi area.

As the procession reached Kalabagan area, cadres of Awami League and its front organisations swooped on them, leaving many including Shamim seriously injured.

Shamim was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, where he died from his injuries on 6 August.

Shamim's mother Jahanara Begum filed the case with Dhanmandi police station on 3 October against 128 including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
