Ducsu VP candidate Jalal denied bail in attempted murder case
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order yesterday (3 September)

A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) independent vice president candidate Jalal Ahmed, popularly known as Jalamoyee Jalal, in a case filed against him over attempting to murder his dormitory roommate.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order yesterday (3 September) after hearing arguments from both sides.
Jalal's lawyer Rafiqul Islam Himel submitted the bail plea, while state prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Suman opposed it. Following the hearing, the court rejected the bail petition.
Jalal, a student of the 2013-2014 session at DU and a resident of the university's Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, attacked his roommate Md Robiul Haque following an altercation over a trivial matter in the early hours of 27 August.
Jalal was sent to jail through the court on the same day after the DU administration expelled him from the dormitory and filed a case against him at Shahbagh police station on allegation of attempted murder.
Robiul was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with stab wounds. He is currently undergoing treatment.
