Dr Sabrina placed on fresh remand

A Dhaka court has placed JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on a two-day fresh remand over her alleged involvement in providing fake Covid-19 test certificates.
Metropolitan Magistrate Masudur Rahman granted the remand when detective branch produced Dr Sabrina before the court after end of 3-day remand.
Confirming the matter, Tejgaon Division Detective Branch's Assistant Commissioner Bayzidur Rahman said that they appealed for 5-day remand, but court granted 2-day.
Earlier, Judge Shahinur Rahman granted 3-day to police for interrogating Dr Sabrina on July 13, a day after her arrest following the allegations that JKG Health Care provided fake Covid-19 certificates.
Later, the health ministry suspended Dr Sabrina from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) as per government service rule 2018.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and National Board of Revenue have decided to initiate inquiry against Dr Sabrina over her alleged involvement in the Covid-19 testing scam.
