A Dhaka court today (21 June) rejected a bail petition filed by former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque in a case filed over the killing of a young man during the July Uprising.
Dhaka Seventh Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Salekin Habib Bappy passed the order after hearing the bail plea submitted by the defence.

The victim's brother, Zobayer Ahmed, filed the murder case with the court on 16 November 2024.
Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Khairul Haque from the capital's Dhanmondi area on 24 July 2025.
Following his arrest, the former chief justice was also shown arrested in another case filed over the killing of Abdul Qaium Ahad during the July-August mass uprising.
Khairul Haque served as the country's 19th chief justice and has faced legal scrutiny in multiple cases related to deaths and violence during the July Uprising.
