Court orders to freeze bank accounts of ex-whip Shamsul, family members

A Chattogram court today (13 April) ordered to freeze ten bank accounts of former whip of National Parliament Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and six members of his family.
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued the order following an application of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said ACC Chattogram District Office-2 Assistant Director Imran Khan.
Bank accounts that have been frozen include those of Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, his wife Kamrun Nahar Chowdhury, son Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, daughters Taklima Nasrin Chowdhury and Tahmina Nasrin Chowdhury, brothers Fazlul Haque Chowdhury Mohabbat and Mojibul Haque Chowdhury Nawab.
After the mass uprising of 5 August, the ACC began investigations into allegations of corruption and illegal wealth accumulation against former MPs, ministers, and influential individuals.
Among them, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, a former MP for Chattogram-12 constituency, is accused of involvement in casino operations, amassing illegal wealth through abuse of power, and money laundering.
