Chattogram court orders 'Tempo Ismail' shown arrested in anti-terrorism case
Investigators say his arrest is needed to identify other accused.
A Chattogram court today (3 August) ordered top criminal Ismail Hossain alias "Tempo Ismail" to be shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abul Mansur passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the investigating officer, according to court sources.
Court sources said the case was filed with Kotwali Police Station on 13 June 2025 over allegations of terrorist activities, involvement in the activities of a terrorist organisation, and assisting and financing such activities.

Ismail, who is an accused listed by the Chattogram Metropolitan Police and currently in jail in another case, was sought to be shown arrested in this case by the investigating officer. The court granted the petition following the hearing.
In the petition, the investigating officer said information, documents and evidence obtained during the investigation indicated that Ismail, 38, was an accused in the case.
The petition said Ismail was an active Jubo League activist in the Chandgaon Police Station area.
The investigation also found that he had allegedly been present at the scene with other named and unidentified accused and participated in the offences described in the case statement, according to information received from reliable sources.
The petition further said showing Ismail arrested in the case was essential to the investigation to uncover the identities, whereabouts and roles of the other accused.
Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Mafizul Haque Bhuiyan and Assistant Public Prosecutors Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury and Abdullah Al Fahad represented the state during the hearing.
After the hearing, Raihanul told journalists that the investigating officer's petition mentioned 23 cases against Ismail.
He said the court ordered Ismail to be shown arrested in the case to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, establish the rule of law and bring those involved in terrorist activities to justice.
The investigation remains underway, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings, he added.
