A Brahmanbaria court has sent a Union Parisad Chairman, Masud Rana to jail over a double murder case in Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar upazila.
Satmora UP Chairman Masud Rana surrendered to the court in the double murder case and applied for bail, confirming the matter District Court Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Md Didarul Alam said.
The court Judge Mohammad Shafiul Azam denied bail and ordered him to be sent to jail.
On 1 March 2017, former Border Guard Bangladesh member Yasin Mia and his brother Enamul Haque were killed by the opposition in Nabinagar upazila's Jagannathpur village.
Enamul Haque's wife Taslima Begum filed a murder case naming 26 people.
The court judge directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police to investigate the case.
After a long investigation, CID's investigation officer filed a charge sheet on 2 October 2018, accusing 28 people, including the UP Chairman Rana.
