Anisul Huq placed on fresh two-day remand
During the hearing, Anisul’s lawyers said there was no concrete evidence against the former minister

A Dhaka court today (14 October) placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a fresh two-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Swechhasebak Dal leader Alaming in Badda during the student movement on 5 August.
Judge Nurul Huda Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court passed the order after a hearing on a police plea seeking a seven-day remand of the former minister this morning, Sub-Inspector Nurul Haque, general record officer of the court, told The Business Standard.
In the remand plea, the police said on 5 August, the police opened fire on a student procession in the Badda Police Station area of the capital. At that time, Alamin, a Swechhasebak Dal leader, was seriously injured and later succumbed to his injury.
"Former law minister Anisul Huq is directly involved in this incident. The murder was committed under his direction. The accused needs to be remanded to unravel the mystery of the murder and gather information about the rest of the accused," said the police.
During the hearing, Anisul's lawyers said there was no concrete evidence against the former minister. He has been placed on remand several times and he is being harassed.
Earlier on 19 September, a Dhaka court placed Anisul and Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on a five-day remand in a case lodged under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947.
