Pro-AL lawyers stage silent protest against ICT verdict on Quader, six others
They gathered outside the Advocate Lounge of the Supreme Court’s Annex Building shortly after the tribunal sentenced Obaidul Quader and six others to death.
A group of lawyers affiliated with the Awami League staged a "silent protest" at the Supreme Court today (15 September) against the death sentences handed down to seven people, including the party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader, over crimes against humanity committed during the July Uprising.
The lawyers gathered outside the Advocate Lounge of the Supreme Court's Annex Building around 1:30pm, shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal announced the verdict.
No collective slogans were heard during the protest, although several lawyers were heard chanting "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu".

Protesting lawyer Sheikh Golam Kibria told reporters that they had gathered to protest the tribunal's verdict.
"We gathered to protest the order sentencing Awami League, Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders to death. We reject the verdict and staged an immediate protest," he said.
Questioning the trial process, Golam Kibria alleged that the tribunal had delivered a "farce verdict" in what he described as false cases against leaders and activists of the party.
"We reject the verdict and have staged an immediate protest," he said.
Earlier today, ICT-2 delivered its verdict against seven accused, including Obaidul Quader, in a case involving alleged crimes against humanity during the July Uprising.
Each of the seven accused faced four charges. The tribunal handed down death sentences and life imprisonment for the charges.
