2 placed on remand for paying tribute on behalf of banned AL at National Memorial
The arrestees were identified as Rakibul Islam Durjoy, 32, from Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh, and Misti Subhash, 28, from Banchharampur in Brahmanbaria.
A Dhaka court today (27 March) placed two individuals on remand who were arrested while attempting to place flowers at the National Memorial in Savar on behalf of the banned Awami League and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The arrestees were identified as Rakibul Islam Durjoy, 32, from Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh, and Misti Subhash, 28, from Banchharampur in Brahmanbaria.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohag passed the order after the police produced the accused before the court.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Biswajit Debnath of the Dhaka District Police Prosecution Division said the court granted a three-day remand for Durjoy and a two-day remand for Misti in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Ashulia Police Station.
Ashulia Police Station SI Md Shahiduzzaman, the investigation officer of the case, sought a five-day remand for each of the accused, saying further interrogation was needed to identify others involved in the incident and to determine who had organised the programme.
According to the case statement, the two were among a group of 22 to 25 people who gathered in front of the main altar of the National Memorial yesterday around 1:10pm. They chanted various slogans and used placards bearing photos of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Police detained the two around 1:30pm and later filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act, accusing them of creating a tense situation and carrying out activities on behalf of a banned organisation.
