Ex-minister Hasan Mahmud, wife sued over graft allegations, 'suspicious' transactions worth Tk722cr

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud and his wife Nurun Fatema Hasan over allegations of acquiring illegal wealth.
The couple allegedly made suspicious bank transactions worth Tk722.91 crore in their 65 bank accounts, ACC Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen told reporters at a press briefing at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka today (6 April).
The ACC chairman said Hasan Mahmud allegedly acquired illegal wealth worth Tk1.11 crore and made suspicious transactions worth Tk39 crore in nine bank accounts.
Nurun Fatema allegedly acquired illegal wealth worth Tk5.52 crore and made suspicious transactions worth Tk683 crore in 56 bank accounts, Abdul Momen added.
These transactions of money through the accounts are fully inconsistent with their sources of income, the ACC chairman said.
