ICT takes cognisance of complaints against ex-FM Hasan, 21 others
At the same time, arrest warrants have been issued against 18 absconding accused.
The International Crimes Tribunal-2 today (7 April) took cognisance of formal complaints in a case involving crimes against humanity against former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud and 21 others in relation to the killing of six people including Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal leader Wasim during the July Uprising in Chattogram.
At the same time, arrest warrants have been issued against 18 absconding accused.
The order was issued today (7 April) by a three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal-2 led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury.
So far, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. They are former MP of Chattogram-6 constituency ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Jubo League leader Azizur Rahman, Touhidul Islam and Md Firoz.
Earlier on 5 April, Prosecutor Faruk Ahmed submitted a formal complaints to the Registrar of ICT-1.
Other accused of the complaints include former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin and some other leaders, activists of the Awami League and its affiliate organisations.
