ACC files graft case against ex-Chapainawabganj MP Ziaur Rahman
The anti-graft body also directed Ziaur’s wife Kashmiri Begum to submit a statement of her assets

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former MP Ziaur Rahman of the Chapainawabganj-2 constituency over amassing wealth illegally.
The anti-graft body also directed Ziaur's wife Kashmiri Begum to submit a statement of her assets.
ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the information today (23 June).
He stated that Ziaur Rahman is accused of illegally acquiring undeclared assets worth Tk1.08 crore through misusing his power while holding public office.
In addition, the ACC official said the former MP has allegedly conducted suspicious financial transactions totaling Tk10.02 crore across five bank accounts held in his name and in the name of his affiliated organisation.
Kashmiri Begum is also accused of possessing illegal assets amounting to Tk52.47 lakh. As preliminary findings suggest the possible existence of additional hidden or anonymous assets, the ACC has decided to issue an order under Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, requiring the submission of a full asset declaration.
